The photographs show some of the willing and capable volunteers who helped to clear the overgrown laurels, ivy and holly in part of the cemetery on 31 Jan 15.
Although some of it looks rather severe, it should thicken up and become green again during the growing season. People should be able to get to previously covered graves and there is more light in there.
We hope to have another session soon, to finish tidying parts that we could not do in the time we allowed last time. Once we decide on the date I will let you all know.
You will be able to see from the photographs that everyone was in good humour and we all enjoyed working together, to improve a facility for the village.
We have had a visit from the Suffolk Wildlife trust and will be encouraging interest in the cemetery as a place of natural wildlife too.
Home made refreshments were provided to sustain everyone and keep morale high.
Thank you again to everyone that helped this time and if you missed it, please come along to our next session.
Many hands make light work!!

Addendum - As part of the role of Village Recorder, we will photograph and index all the gravestones. So far, we have done about 2/3rds of the cemetery. An index of the names will be updated on the Parish Records page.
