The Suffolk Festival torch relay comes to Occold on Wednesday 25 May!
Look out for the Festival Torch Relay on its 588-mile journey around Suffolk. Starting in Brandon on Friday 13th May, ending at the Suffolk Show on Wednesday 1st June, to be a centre-piece for the big Jubilee Pageant at the Showground.
Our very own Sheila Barrett and grand daughter Florence Hobson have been nominated to carry the torch for Occold.
Sheila can trace her roots back seven generations to her Great Great Grandfather Edward Kent who was born in 1785 in Occold and her forefathers have a long history of working and trading in the Village of Occold.
Sheila and Florence will travel in an e-rickshaw carrying the torch which will start its journey in Dublin Road around 11.45am before travelling into Mill Road then stopping for a photo opportunity at the Beaconsfield Arms before continuing down Church Street towards the B1077.
If you are free it would be lovely to see residents on the streets waving their flags!
